COYOTE
Order one Dog Decoy. One Dog Decoy will be enough to be effective on 8 acres or less. The behavior of coyotes can vary greatly depending upon the type of property. If the coyote is 'urbanized' and unafraid of people, they may be harder to get rid of.
DEER
Order One Dog Decoy for each open area you want to protect from deer.
When used as directed, a Dog Decoy may keep Deer away from your property - this includes crop fields, too. Deer can be very destructive eating plants, shrubs, and trees, fruits, gardens and farm fields.
Place the Dog Decoy in an open area where the deer would see it as they approach your property. For deer that visit the property on a daily basis, it is advised that you purchase a predator scent such as wolf, panther, or coyote (we do not sell the predator scent but it is available at PeeMart.com or at your local sporting store). Spray the predator urine along the top edge of the dog decoy. The predator scent will drip down the channels of the Dog Decoy and ask it moves in the wind, the scent along with the movement will be a double deterrent that may keep even the bravest of deer away. Move the Dog Decoy at least once per week for the first few months. The deer will smell the scent, and if they get closer to the property, they will see the movement of the Dog Decoy and will be scared away. Use One Dog Decoy for each open area you want deer to stay out of. Fewer Dog Decoys is most effective. One Dog Decoy should be sufficient for most residential properties. If you can see more than one Dog Decoy from any one place on your property, you have too many Dog Decoys. Fewer is better.
Many of our customers have found the Dog Decoy to be a very effective Deer deterrent. The Dog Decoy is a very cost effective solution, compared to other deer deterrent products such as deer fencing which can be an eye sore, and other sprays or granules that you may need to continuously re-apply when it rains. In addition, the Dog Decoy has no harmful chemicals and is safe to use around pets, children, and edible fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The Dog Decoy, when used as directed, may keep deer out of your yard for years to come. If deer are coming to eat out of bird feeders, you may want to take the feeders down for a month so they unlearn that your property is a place for food.
GEESE
The Dog Decoy can be very effective keeping geese out of lawns, off of docks, out of swimming pools, and off of rooftops. During nesting season, you may want to purchase a bottle of coyote urine (we do not sell this). The scent sprayed along the top edge of the Dog Decoy will drip down the channels within the Dog Decoy and ask it moves around in the wind, the scent will waft in the area. The geese will not only see the Dog Decoy, but they will also smell a predator and will be less likely to nest in that area.
If the geese have nested in your area in previous years, it is best to put the Dog Decoy with the scent in the area where they have nested BEFORE they actually nest. If you find nests they have made previously, you can destroy the nests as long as there are no eggs in the nest. If there are eggs in the nest, contact your local Department of Natural Resources for guidance on laws in your area regarding your situation. The Canada Goose is still federally protected under The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
Using the Dog Decoys is a humane way to deter geese from areas they are unwanted and are a nuisance. Placing the Dog Decoys in the area where their nests would cause issues, the geese will naturally find a nesting place that is 'safer' for their broad. Nesting areas around high traffic areas can cause auto accidents and be extremely dangerous to the geese. Using the Dog Decoys early in the Spring to deter nesting in these areas can eliminate months of the geese staying in that area, since the baby goslings cannot fly until approximately 70 days after hatching.
When choosing the number of Dog Decoys needed for a property, fewer is more effective. Too many Dog Decoys on a property will not look realistic enough to the geese. One Dog Decoy per open area is best. For example, a typical residential property, may want one for the front yard and one for the back yard if the geese tend to visit both the front and back. If the geese normally only visit the back yard, maybe coming onto the lawn from a lake or pond, one Dog Decoy should be enough. Keep in mind that Geese do not understand property lines. This may sound silly, but look at the surrounding areas like a goose would. If they are landing in a neighborhood pond and then walking out of the pond into the residential yards, place the Dog Decoys around the pond to prevent them from landing in your neighborhood entirely.
The Pack of 3 Dog Decoys has been are most popular product for both residential and commercial properties. Normally, with three dogs you can strategically place them to deter the geese entirely.
GROUNDHOGS
One Dog Decoy may be effective at keeping Groundhogs away when used as directed. Moving once per month after that should keep the Dog Decoy working effectively to deter the groundhogs.
SEAGULLS
Seagulls leave a mess on docks, boats, rooftops, and other areas where they are unwanted. One Dog Decoy on a Wooden Base may keep seagulls away when used as directed. Be sure no one is feeding them, however or nothing will keep them away!
Move the Dog Decoy once per day for the first week. Make sure the seagulls are not around when you move the dog. Moving the dog 10' one way, or 15' another way will keep it an effective solution for keeping seagulls away for years to come!
Under normal and very windy conditions, the Wooden Base will keep the Dog Decoy upright. In extremely windy areas, you may want to bolt down the wooden base so it does not tip.
RABBITS
One Dog Decoy may be effective at keeping Rabbits away when used as directed. Place the Dog Decoy in the area where the Rabbits have been seen and be sure to move the Dog Decoy once per week for the first month. RACCOON
Raccoons can be very destructive and get into everything! A Dog Decoy sprayed with our predator scent will keep Raccoons away from fruit trees, and bird feeders. Purchase a bottle of coyote or wolf urine from PeeMart.com and spray the top edge of the dog decoy. As the dog decoy moves around in the wind, it will waft the predator scent around the area making it seem unsafe for the Raccoons. Keep in mind, many people feed raccoons and they have become unafraid of many things - including people.
Place the Dog Decoy in the area the Raccoon have been visiting. If they are coming to eat bird food, dog food or cat food that is left out, bring that in for a week. This will teach them that you are no longer feeding them, and they should stay away. After the Dog Decoy has been out for a week, move the Dog Decoy 10' one way, or 15' another way so it is in a slightly different location, and then you can put the bird feeder, dog or cat food back out. The Raccoon should stay away.

Place the Dog Decoy in the area where the Woodchucks have been seen and be sure to move the Dog Decoy once per week for the first month. Moving once per month after that should keep the Dog Decoy working effectively to deter the Woodchucks.
